The
Somerset Program
The Somerset Program has the capacity to serve 16
residents and is designed to assist individuals
with severe functional, behavioral, and cognitive
limitations requiring long-term or possible life
care. Somerset is designed to provide
a stable and structured safe environment.
Residents are supervised 24 hours a day and are
actively involved in daily activities that are
tailored to the needs of each person. Preserving a
positive self-image and self-worth are important
objectives integrated throughout the Somerset
Program.
The goals of Somerset are to promote
quality of life and to maintain the highest level
of neuromedical and behavioral stability. Included
in the maintenance of the highest level of
achieved post-injury functioning is the prevention
of re injury and recidivism to acute care, to the
extent possible.
Services provided by the Somerset Program may
include:

Awake staff

24-hour nursing support

Behavioral management

Living skills training

Educational programming

Print shop

Horticultural

Community based programming

Weekly community outings

Individual support groups (AA, Brain Injury
Groups etc.)

Physical, occupational, speech, and
psychological therapies available

A Better Life Experience
or A.B.L.E, a program that addresses quality
of life, leisure, and social opportunity.
Admission criteria:

Must be 16.5 years of age.

Full time indirect supervision to full time
direct supervision.

Nursing intervention no
greater than 1 hour.
-
Acute neuromedical stability.
-
Formal consultation with attending physician
one time per month.
-
Not more than two formal ongoing therapies.
