Philosophy of Care

Touchstone Neurorecovery Center’s Spinal Cord Program exists to provide a bridge between acute rehabilitation and community re-entry so that persons served can more fully participate in their previous social, community and vocational roles. The program affords an individual the  opportunity to have real life experiences related to self-care, homemaking, vocational/academic pursuits, practice with new rehabilitation equipment,  transfer techniques, new routines regarding time management and  safety in the community setting,

The program has proven successful for both short-term patients who are awaiting home modification as well as life-care patients who call Touchstone home.  Some patients have enjoyed a respite at Touchstone to have a break from their normal day-to-day routine for up to two weeks at a time.
